Today, the Chekhov Museum, like the writer's estate more than a hundred years ago, is living in "close proximity to the village". The seven years the writer lived here, is one of the most significant chapters in the history of Melikhovo, but at the same time it is only a part of the centuries–old history of the village.

This publication is dedicated to Melikhovo, an ancient village of the southern Moscow region, which is more than four hundred years old. Vintage maps, photographs and paintings will help you see how Melikhovo has been changing over the centuries. Most of the materials included in this edition are published for the first time.
