The Organising Committee of the International Theatre Festival «Melikhovskaya Vesna» announces the opening of applications for the 25th anniversary festival, scheduled to take place in Melikhovo, Moscow Region, from May 23 to June 1, 2025. Applications will be accepted until November 17, 2024.

The State Literary and Memorial Museum-Reserve A.P. Chekhov «Melikhovo», with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Moscow Region, has hosted the International Theatre Festival «Melikhovskaya Vesna» in the estate of the esteemed writer since 2000.

We invite professional theatres and creative groups from Russia and abroad to present performances based on the works of A.P. Chekhov or related to the author. The festival will feature a special program, "Chekhov+," highlighting productions based on the works of other authors; in 2025, performances will emphasise the works of W. Shakespeare.

Performances will take place at various venues, including the theatre courtyard of A.P. Chekhov's Melikhovo estate, the large open stage in the central part of the estate, and the Serpukhov Musical and Drama Theatre. Productions may also be adapted for additional locations within the museum-reserve.

Vasily Kuznetsov, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Moscow Region:

"The Melikhovskaya Spring is the oldest Russian theatre festival. Over a quarter of a century it has been attended by more than 200 theatres from 23 countries. Chekhov, who lived near Moscow, is well known not only in Russia, his stories and heroes are understood by people who speak different languages. I am sure that the 25th anniversary festival will turn out bright, will gather theatre groups from all over the world in its poster and once again will allow to make sure that culture has no borders, and works of Anton Chekhov, which became a world heritage are relevant at any time".

To participate in the festival, it is necessary to submit a video recording of the performance, as well as detailed information as specified in the application form.

Applications are accepted until November 17, 2024, at the designated email address: mel-vesna@mail.ru.

The executive director of the festival is Elena Gennadievna Alexeeva. +7-905-778-42-65
