Every year on 3 September, Russia celebrates the Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism.
This memorable date of Russia was established in 2005 by the federal law "On Days of Military Glory of Russia" and is associated with the tragic events in Beslan (North Ossetia, 1-3 September 2004), when militants seized one of the city's schools. As a result of the terrorist attack at School No. 1, more than three hundred people were killed, among them 186 children.
Since then, on this day Russians remember with bitterness the people who died at the hands of terrorists, as well as law enforcement officers who died in the performance of their duty.
The A.P. Chekhov's Museum-Reserve "Melikhovo" will hold events dedicated to this tragic date, which will open with a Minute of Remembrance for the victims of terror.
The events will take place in the exposition of the Melikhovo school built by A.P. Chekhov in 1899.
