School of handicrafts at the «Lopasnya-Zachatievskoye Estate»
The Lopasnya-Zachatievskoye Estate has completed its "School of Needlework".
As part of the cultural and educational programme "Needlework Traditions of the 19th Century: The School of the Goncharov Sisters", the participants learned about the history of the estate and the traditions of needlework in noble families. In addition, children and parents learnt a lot about the traditions of noble and merchant tea drinking and the rules of serving the tea table. On the threshold of the Easter holiday, they got acquainted with the origin of the tradition of colouring eggs and prepared gifts for the holiday - painted wooden eggs.
Traditionally, the classes ended with an exhibition of children's works and a tea party. This year, not only Chekhov schoolchildren took part in the programme, but also students from Serpukhov and Moscow.
