A performance by Evgeny Pisarev's workshop about the ninth intake of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum. According to the plot, young lyceum students receive news of the death of Pushkin. In addition to the news that shocked them, they also learn about another incident directly related to it: Mikhail Lermontov was arrested for the poem “The Death of a Poet.” The heroes of the production, young people, go through a generational conflict, testing the strength of their friendship, beliefs and principles. The craving for freedom and the fear of this freedom is the “red thread” of the premiere performance of the Pushkinites.
Young artists, almost the same age as the heroes, tell a story about rethinking values: about friendship and brotherhood, censorship and self-censorship, truth and lies, honor and dignity. And when theater rehearsals and poetic recitations are replaced by interrogations and arrests, all this manifests itself.
