About the event

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov in all his works reveals the soul of the Russian person - a complex, incomprehensible, naive and funny soul. The general motif of the play “Leshy” is refreshingly hopeful. Chekhov still believes in the possibility of a cure for the ills of society - selfishness and the thirst for destruction. Among all Chekhov's plays, "The Leshy" stands out for its bright, peaceful ending; the characters come to understand the value of life, love, and humanity. And it’s not for nothing that Chekhov put the words into the mouth of his beloved hero of this play: “Everything in a person should be beautiful...”

It can be said with all responsibility that the play “Leshy” based on the works of the Russian classic A.P. Chekhov, directed by the Bulgarian director Bogdan Petkanin, brought the theater to some special level and revealed absolutely unexpected facets of actors, seemingly very well known to regulars of the Russian Theater.

The absolutely brilliant Chekhov, a researcher of the Russian soul, an unsurpassed author of short stories, novellas and plays. Bogdan Petkanin managed to “not throw out the baby” - Chekhov, undoubtedly, is present on the stage, invisibly leading his heroes along the storyline, slyly teasing, laughing, however, with endless love for them.
