About the event

The performance is based on the joke plays “The Proposal” and “The Bear”, as well as the monologue scene “On the dangers of tobacco”. Each of these miniatures demonstrates the author's exquisite ironic style in all its brilliance and variety. The director of the play, together with the actors, explores the nature of Chekhov's humor using the example of his most laconic and comic plays.

It would seem: what else can be told new by staging works that are well-known, actively performed on various stages, and exist in different styles? But the creative team managed to combine Chekhov’s signature humor with lyrical and sometimes dramatic moods.

In addition to the outstanding acting work, the performance is distinguished by a thoughtful scenography that combines both rustic comfort and the elegance of a living room, and thanks to the musical director of the production, Svetlana Anistratova, the performance acquired an original sound, woven from songs and lyrical vocalises in the magnificent performance of the theater choir artists.

Together with the heroes, we will observe the instantly flared passion between the characters of “The Bear”, we will learn how to competently combine a marriage proposal with property interests using the example of the heroes of “The Proposal”, we will hear the not-so-fun story of family life from the author of the lecture “On the dangers of tobacco”. Will we take Anton Pavlovich's side? Or vice versa: let’s make sure once again that love and family life are integral components of happiness?

The performance gives you the opportunity to come to the right conclusion yourself!
